Should a private label moisture absorber range start with an unscented version, a fragrance option, or both? The choice depends on the intended shopper, sales channel and product positioning. Treat fragrance as a defined product variant with its own approval process, rather than a last-minute change to the packaging.
Start with the intended use and customer
Write a short brief describing where the product will be used, who will buy it and what the packaging should communicate. A wardrobe range and a general household range may need different presentations. Ask distributors which options their customers request, and use that feedback to decide which samples to evaluate.
An unscented option may suit buyers who do not want added perfume. A scented option may suit a range positioned around a particular fragrance experience. Neither preference establishes better moisture absorption; evaluate the performance of each final product separately.
Define what each fragrance description means
Specify the fragrance name, supplier reference and approved sample. Terms such as “fresh” or “floral” are too broad to control a repeat order on their own. Evaluate the scent in the final bag or box as well as in the raw fragrance sample.
For an unscented version, confirm the formulation with the supplier. “No added fragrance” should not be expanded into unsupported claims such as allergy-free, chemical-free or guaranteed odorless. Keep the wording specific to what has actually been verified.
Approve scent strength in the finished pack
Agree on a consistent evaluation process: sample quantity, opening method, storage conditions and review interval. Keep a reference sample and document any requested changes. Check whether the retail packaging affects the presentation or allows noticeable fragrance transfer to neighboring products.
A fragrance change should trigger a review of the product specification and supporting documentation. Do not assume that one fragrance’s documents describe every scented version.
Keep moisture-control and fragrance claims clear
Describe the product’s purpose plainly. A scented moisture absorber should not automatically be promoted as a disinfectant, mold remover or antibacterial product. If a separate claim is proposed, ask what evidence supports that exact formulation and use.
For absorption capacity and replacement guidance, request the method and conditions behind the figures. Use consistent wording across the product page, packaging and quotation so that buyers understand what is being measured.
Plan the commercial impact of extra variants
- Minimum order quantity: Confirm whether it applies per fragrance, pack design or total order.
- Artwork: Give each approved version a clear name and revision reference.
- Inventory: Decide how many variants your first order can support without spreading quantities too thinly.
- Sampling: Ask about sample charges and the time needed for revised scent approval.
- Repeat orders: Record the exact variant reference on the purchase order.
常见问题
Does a stronger scent mean better moisture absorption?
No. Scent strength is not a measure of absorption performance. Compare the finished products using an agreed test method.
Can I use the same artwork for every scent?
A common layout can simplify a range, but review the variant name, ingredients information, warnings and other product-specific details before printing.
